The Apapa Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has recorded its highest-ever daily revenue collection, generating ₦28.1 billion within 24 hours and further strengthening the Federal Government's revenue drive for national development.

The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, disclosed that the Command collected a total of ₦28,102,000,914.61 on August 18, 2026, surpassing its previous single-day revenue record of ₦20.1 billion achieved in September 2025.

The latest feat comes just weeks after the Command posted a historic monthly revenue collection of ₦323 billion in July 2026, underscoring the impact of ongoing reforms, improved compliance, enhanced trade facilitation measures, intelligence-driven operations and the growing efficiency of digital customs processes.

Speaking on the achievement, Comptroller Oshoba said the milestone was not merely about breaking records but about the Customs Service's contribution to the country's economic growth and development.
According to him, revenue generated by the Service provides critical resources for government programmes and projects, including infrastructure development, security, education, healthcare and other essential public services that directly affect the lives of Nigerians.

"This achievement is dedicated to the Government and people of Nigeria. It reflects the collective efforts of stakeholders and the commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service to supporting national development through efficient revenue generation," he said.

The Area Controller commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the management of the Service for their support for modernisation, automation and reforms aimed at making customs operations more transparent, efficient and business-friendly.

He also praised compliant importers, exporters, licensed customs agents and other stakeholders for their cooperation, while acknowledging patriotic Nigerians who provided credible intelligence that contributed to the Command's success.

Oshoba stressed that every compliant trade transaction contributes to national development, urging stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate trade activities.

"Every compliant transaction contributes to national development. A stronger revenue base gives government greater capacity to meet the needs of the people and create an environment where businesses can thrive," he stated.

The Customs boss, however, cautioned officers and men of the Command against complacency, noting that the record should serve as motivation to achieve even greater results.

He emphasized that revenue collection must go hand-in-hand with trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders, directing officers to resolve legitimate disputes promptly and ensure that customs procedures do not unnecessarily impede lawful business activities.

The CAC said  it remains committed to sustaining the momentum through enhanced revenue generation, improved trade facilitation, stakeholder engagement and professional service delivery, with the understanding that every legitimate revenue collected strengthens government's capacity to deliver development projects and improve the welfare of Nigerians.
