LEKKI PORT DRIVES EFFICIENCY AS VESSELS SUPPORT DANGOTE REFINERY UNDER ONE-STOP-SHOP INITIATIVE
The Lekki Deep Sea Port is witnessing a significant rise in business activity, driven by continuous improvements in operational efficiency and infrastructure. A major contributor to this growth is the Federal Government’s One-Stop-Shop (OSS) initiative, launched on October 1, 2024, to support the Naira-for-Crude Oil sales policy.
Spearheaded by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the OSS has been hailed as a major success. According to NPA Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, the initiative has substantially improved the availability and distribution of petroleum products nationwide.
“The OSS, which is domiciled and coordinated by the NPA, has achieved tremendous success in ensuring the availability of petroleum products in the country,” Dr. Dantsoho affirmed.
Designed to streamline processes related to the Dangote Refinery, the OSS brings together key regulatory and security agencies including the Nigerian Navy, NNPC Limited, FIRS, Nigeria Customs Service, NIMASA and NDLEA—to ensure a seamless and secure operational framework.
Port users have praised the Lekki Port’s management, led by Port Manager Mr. Emmanuel Anda, for recent achievements such as increased cargo throughput, reduced dwell time, enhanced operational predictability, and overall efficiency.
In a related development, the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government-Owned Companies (SSASCGOC), Maritime Branch, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Lekki Deep Sea Port during a courtesy visit to the port’s leadership.
Led by its chairman, Comrade Akinola Bodunde, the union’s delegation met with Mr. Anda and other NPA staff to discuss collaboration, staff welfare, and workplace safety. Other union members in attendance included Rotimi Holms (PRO), Oluwole Ezekiel (Trustee 1), Frederick Ochormogor (Deputy President), Adolphus Eko (General Secretary), and Richard Onwordi (Trustee 3).
Comrade Bodunde emphasized the union’s dedication to fostering a productive working environment and called for strengthened cooperation to drive staff performance and optimize port operations.
In response, Mr. Anda thanked the union leaders for their continued support and reiterated management’s commitment to collaborative engagement, echoing the broader vision of NPA MD, Dr. Dantsoho. He encouraged the SSASCGOC to maintain their backing as the port works toward building a high-performing, sustainable workforce.
