Tin-Can Customs Celebrates ₦159bn Breakthrough, Promotions for Officers
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tin-Can Island Port Command, has achieved a historic milestone, generating ₦159 billion in August 2025,  the highest monthly revenue collection in the command’s history.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, disclosed this on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, during a ceremony at the command when  decorating newly promoted officers.
Onyeka credited the achievement to the successful deployment of the indigenous B’Odogwu trade platform, which he said has enhanced trade facilitation and boosted revenue.
“Everybody here is part of this achievement, but to whom much is given, much is expected. I sincerely appreciate the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for recognising the contributions of officers,” Onyeka said.
The Area Controller also announced that 87 percent of officers from the command who sat for the recent promotion examinations were successful. Among them was the command’s Public Relations Officer, Oscar Ivara, promoted from Superintendent to Chief Superintendent of Customs.
Encouraging those who missed out, Onyeka urged them to remain committed, assuring that “their turn will come.”
He further reaffirmed the command’s focus on trade facilitation, revenue protection, and stakeholder support.
The event drew senior officers, family members, and port stakeholders, who joined in celebrating both the revenue milestone and the career progression of personnel.
