NIMASA Governing Board Holds Inaugural Meeting, Pledges Support for Blue Economy Goals

The newly inaugurated Governing Board of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has pledged unwavering support to the Agency’s Executive Management in delivering on its mandate and advancing Nigeria’s Blue Economy agenda.

During the Board’s inaugural meeting in Lagos, Chairman Hon. Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar assured that the Board would work hand in hand with the Agency to achieve its objectives, with a focus on building a vibrant and sustainable maritime economy.

In a statement released by NIMASA’s Head of Public Relations, Osagie Edward, FNIPR, expressed confidence in the current Executive Management. He noted that the Management had already signed a performance bond with the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, which will serve as a benchmark for assessing the Agency’s achievements.

“As a Board, we are determined to work with the Management to ensure the full realization of activities that will help shape policy direction for the Agency,” he said.

Welcoming members of the Board, NIMASA Director General, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to its core mandate of regulating and promoting shipping, ensuring maritime safety and security, and protecting Nigeria’s marine environment.

He emphasized that the Governing Board’s support would strengthen NIMASA’s capacity to implement initiatives in line with the Federal Government’s vision for a sustainable Blue Economy. According to him, the Agency will continue collaborating with the Board and stakeholders to attract investments, develop maritime infrastructure, and enhance human capacity in the sector
