NSC Boss Congratulates Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho on Election as IAPH Vice President


The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has congratulated Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), on his election as Vice President (Africa) of the International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH).

In a goodwill message, the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Council, Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, MON, described Dr. Dantsoho’s emergence as a remarkable milestone that underscores his exceptional leadership, professional excellence, and unwavering commitment to the development of the maritime sector.

“This outstanding achievement is a source of pride to Nigeria and a clear recognition of your visionary leadership and steadfast dedication to advancing the maritime and port industry,” Dr. Akutah stated.

The Council further commended Dr. Dantsoho for strengthening Nigeria’s strategic position within the global maritime community, expressing confidence that his tenure will unlock greater opportunities for Africa while accelerating Nigeria’s aspiration of becoming a leading maritime hub.

Reaffirming its commitment, the NSC pledged full support to Dr. Dantsoho in his new role, particularly in championing port reforms, facilitating trade, and driving sustainable growth in the blue economy.

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) In a bold and highly successful offensive fight against smuggling has announced the seizure of contraband goods valued at ₦1.28 billion within just two weeks. The operation, led by the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, reflects the agency’s intensified drive to protect the Nigerian economy and promote trade.  As Nigeria nears the 20th anniversary of its port concession policy, widespread dissatisfaction is mounting among stakeholders in the maritime sector, with particular criticism aimed at APM Terminals (APMT), a key player in port operations.
